Our beautiful Janice Lynn, age 75, was called home by our Heavenly Father on September 28, 2025, in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming.

She was born to Ralph and Ruth (Sherman) Peterson on May 28, 1950, in Ogden, Utah. The second born and the only girl, Janice quickly learned to balance toughness with compassion. After her mother suffered a stroke when Janice was just 12 years old, she grew up quickly, stepping into the role of family caretaker; a role she carried with grace throughout her life. Though small in stature, Janice was mighty in spirit, overflowing with love, generosity, and warmth that knew no limits.

Her beautiful blonde hair and long eyelashes made her unforgettable. As a child, she filled her days with tap dancing, hula hooping, and proudly holding the title of hopscotch champion. She attended Ben Lomond High School, where her bright spirit continued to shine.

In the summer of 1973, Janice met the love of her life, Bruce Nielsen. They were married on September 4th of that year and together built a beautiful life, raising their daughters, Michelle Charae and Jennifer Ruth. Nothing brought her greater joy than being their mother and best friend.

Janice loved the outdoors, especially wildflowers and camping. She was happiest when singing, dancing, laughing, and sharing her radiant smile. She was also Bruce’s best hunting buddy and even helped him pack out their biggest elk, named “Henry.”

Janice had a gift for making life brighter in simple, unforgettable ways. She always carried Tic Tacs in her purse to share and she could whistle through a straw louder than anyone, a talent that never failed to bring laughter. Those little moments captured her playful spirit and her gift for spreading joy.

For 28 years, Janice worked at Ogden Regional Medical Center, where she was cherished by colleagues and made many dear friends. Known for her generosity, she single-handedly kept the gift shop thriving by spoiling her grandchildren with thoughtful surprises.

After retirement, Janice and Bruce fulfilled their lifelong dream of moving to Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming. There, they found their dream home, perfectly facing west, where they enjoyed the most incredible sunsets together.

Janice is survived by her husband, Bruce; her daughters, Michelle (Barry) Christensen and Jennifer (Scott) Hiatt; her cherished grandchildren, Kolton, Kasen, Miranda, Kamren, Nevaeh, and Hayden; and her precious great-grandchildren, Everest and Parks. She is also survived by her brothers, Kim (Bonnie) Peterson and Kent (Debra) Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her, brother Spencer; and her grandson, Klinton Capener.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Symbii Hospice in Afton, Wyoming, for their compassionate care and for helping us keep her comfortable during her final days.

Her beautiful laugh and sparkling sense of humor will be missed forever. Sunflowers in bloom and “flutter by’s” will always remind us of our sweetest mom, wife, grandma, aunt, sister, and friend. Her light will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
