David Rogers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. - York on Feb. 14, 2026.
David S. Rogers, 77, of York, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 28, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dave was the son of the late Joseph B. Rogers and Isabel McDermott Rogers. After the passing of his mother, he was lovingly raised by his second mother, Mary Sammon.

After his service in the U.S. Air Force, David earned his Bachelor's degree from La Salle University and spent his career in acquisitions and divestiture accounting. He loved to travel the U.S. and abroad with his bride, and rarely missed Spring Training (go Phillies).

Above all, Dave was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Joan; his daughter, Jennifer Rogers, her husband Martyn Oliver, and their daughters, Maude and Pearl Rogers; his son, Nicholas Rogers, his wife Sarah Maguire, and their son, Gus Rogers; and his sister, Helen Haslam; his sister-in-law, Jane Kochenash, and brother-in-law, John Kochenash. Dave is proudly referred to as "Grumpy" by his grandchildren Maude, Pearl, and Gus. Grumpy's joy in and love of his grandchildren was and remains infinite.

David was preceded in death by his father, Joseph B. Rogers (1991), and his mother, Isabel McDermott Rogers (1956).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd., York, PA 17402. Interment will follow at a later date in Holy Saviour Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Dave will be remembered for his Bridge/cardplay acumen, his rapid-fire questions, and his love to pour a drink for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren, who carry forward his quiet strength and enduring love.
