David Lee Sandel, known affectionately to all as David, passed away on June 16, 2025, at the age of 66, in San Angelo, Texas, after a courageous battle with a long illness. Born on September 10, 1958, in Kermit, Texas, David's life was a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit, and his passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
David's journey began in the small town of Kermit, where he grew up surrounded by the love and support of his family. He was a proud graduate, having completed his high school education and obtained his G.E.D., a foundation that would serve him well throughout his life. His work ethic was unmatched, as he honed his skills to become a highly respected pipeline welder and a certified pipeline welding inspector. David's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when he ventured into the culinary world as a BBQ restaurant owner, where his mastery of flavors and technique earned him the title of a master BBQ chef among friends and patrons alike. Later in life, he embraced the role of ranch manager and personal assistant, where his versatility and resourcefulness were greatly admired.
David's commitment to his Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him strength and comfort through the years. He was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for golf, which he played with vigor and joy. David's love for music was well known; he cherished his tunes and was often found enjoying them at full volume, a testament to his zest for life.
He was a creative soul, generous with his time and talents, and always thoughtful in his interactions with others. David's legacy is carried on by his beloved family: his devoted wife Jeanenne Sandel, his cherished son Theodore Sandel, and his siblings who looked up to him, older brother Robert Sandel, oldest brother Joe Sandel, and his oldest/only sister Mary Hubnik and many beloved nephews and nieces.
David's life was one of connection and impact, touching the lives of many through his work, his passions, and his unwavering kindness. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived-this is to have succeeded." David embodied this sentiment, leaving the world a better place for his presence.
In the quiet moments of a setting sun or the crackling sounds of a well-tended BBQ, we will remember David. His laughter, his generosity, and his thoughtful nature will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he loved, and his memory will be cherished forever.
David Lee Sandel's life story is one of enduring strength, boundless love, and the profound influence one person can have on the world around them. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in knowing that his spirit lives on through the lives he touched and the memories we carry forward. He was a very passionate American Patriot and proudly displayed his Trump hat.
