David Schultz Obituary

Visit the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory - Walker Brown Chapel website to view the full obituary.
David Edward Schultz, 69, of Tulsa died peacefully surrounded by family on August 27, 2025, from a rare form of lymphoma. David was born on February 4, 1956, in Stillwater, OK, to Robert Schultz and Ann Young Schultz. He joked that his tombstone should be inscribed, "David was born in Stillwater, lived in Bartlesville and died in Tulsa, he did not venture far in life". Nothing could be further from the truth. Due to his father's transfers with the Phillips Petroleum Company, David lived in a dozen states and travelled extensively. As a kid, he went to ten schools, graduating in 1974 from Greenville High School in Greenville, SC. He attended Clemson and Oklahoma State University, graduating with degrees in Economics and Accounting. In 1980, to honor his country and to seek more adventure, David joined the US Navy. He graduated from Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI where he served as a Navigation Officer on the USS Halsey and USS Albert until he was honorably discharged. Words that best describe David include charismatic, eccentric, generous, and stubborn. Anyone who knew David, probably has a humorous and colorful story that likely involves his unique pets, an African Gray Parrot named Clyde, or his beloved piranha named Pierre; his sharp wit; or his love of fast cars and rock music. Several years ago, to illustrate his disdain for country music, David made a bet with a friend that he could produce a successful song in the genre despite his lack of experience. He wrote, sang and played guitar for Those Times Gone By, which he published with the Library of Congress. David was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ann Schultz and cherished baby sister Heidi Murry. He is survived by his brother John and his wife Lori Schultz and their 3 children, Kristen, Jacob and Emily and his sisters Gretchen and her husband Michael Fugett and their 2 sons, Thomas and Andrew and Kristen Schultz and her son David Willard Johnson. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 2nd at Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
