David Michael "Mike" Seagle

David M. "Mike" Seagle, age 58, of rural Makanda, IL, passed away suddenly at 11:31 am on January 12, 2023, at his home.
He was born on June 26, 1964, in Hammond, IN, the son of David Lee and Susan B. (Riddle) Seagle.
Mike, as he was known by, attended school in Marion, IL, and was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1982. He continued his education attending at John A. Logan College of Carterville, IL, Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, IL, and University of Illinois of Champaign-Urbana, IL, where he received his Master's Degree in Theater.
His working career for over 20 years, was with John A. Logan College of Carterville, IL, as a Professor teaching Speech and Theater Education. During his career he had written and directed 3 plays along with numerous productions. After his retirement he moved to Anchorage, Alaska for some time and worked as a substitute grade schoolteacher.
He was a member of Disciples of Christ Church of Carbondale, IL.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hiking with his numerous rescue dogs on the "Rocky Bluff Trail", located near Little Grassy Lake near where he lived. He also was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to jazz music and loved the Arts. Mike enjoyed being with his family and friends. The many memories created will now be cherished by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his parents, David L. and Susan B. Seagle of Marion, IL; sister, Barbara Richey and husband, Darwin of Crab Orchard, IL; aunt, Mary Martin and her husband, Floyd of Jasper, IN; nephew, Robert Richey of Crab Orchard, IL; niece, Hanna Damron and husband, Corey of Crab Orchard, IL; great-niece, Emma Damron of Crab Orchard, IL; great-nephew, Eli Damron of Crab Orchard, IL, other extended family across the states and many friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion.
Mike's family will host a Memorial Service at Heartland Christian Church, 900 E. Boyton St., Marion, IL 62959 on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
Private family interment will be held at a later date in Dillingham Cemetery near Corinth, IL.
The family has requested for those who would prefer, memorial contributions in Mike's memory may be made to; "Wright-Way Rescue" animal shelter in Murphysboro, IL. Memorial contributions may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion, IL, 62959.
