David Steven Settlemires was born on February 25, 1960, and passed from this life on November 8, 2025. A lifelong resident of Tippah County, he was the son of Aaron and Pattie Sue Richardson Settlemires. Growing up, he was a member of Spout Springs Presbyterian Church and later a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Falkner, where he served as a church pianist.
He graduated from Falkner High School in 1978, where he was chosen Mr. FHS, president of the Beta Club and FFA, as well as editor of the school yearbook. He graduated from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 1980 with an associate degree in Business. A short time later, he returned to Northeast and obtained a degree in cosmetology.
A talented hair stylist for over 40 years, he worked in various salons in Memphis and later opened his own salon, The Style Master, near his home in the Spout Springs community.
He is survived by his brother, Rickey Settlemires and wife Sherrell of Ripley, his sister Stacey Settlemires Breland, of Ripley, nephews Scott Settlemires, Hunter Mullins, and River Breland of Ripley, and nieces Ivy Settlemires Hall of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Skylar Breland of Ripley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Anthony Settlemires, and his nephew Chad Settlemires, all of Ripley.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be in Spout Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spout Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund in care of Roger Childs at the Peoples Bank of Ripley.
