David J. Simon

David J Simon, age 80, passed away peacefully in New York City on January 11, 2026.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheri (Cohen), his sisters Judy Chassanoff, twin sister Ruth Mellk, and Barbara Simon, his many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A graduate of East Side High School in Paterson, NJ, he continued his education at Rutgers University and NYU where he received his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. David began work at Kearfott Guidance and Navigation in NJ developing aerospace and military applications and retired 35 years later as the Director of Electronics Development. During his 20 years of retirement David followed his interests in Asian art, reading science fiction and traveling to 6 continents with Sheri. He especially loved their journeys to southeast Asia, Africa, Antarctica and their 3 trips to China.

After a lifetime in NJ, living in Paterson, Glen Rock and Wyckoff, he and Sheri moved to Manhattan where they enjoyed city life for 10 years.

David will be remembered for his kindness and compassion, his unique sense of humor and love for family and friends.

Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
