David Eugene "Gene" Smith, 69, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, passed away on September 25, 2025, in the hospital surrounded by family. He was born on March 2, 1956.

Gene was a member of Straightway Holiness Church. He dearly loved his church and his church family. He spent many years as a heavy equipment operator for the Highway Dept. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed hunting. He also had a passion for his hobbies which included running his fox hounds, beagles, and raising his chickens. And he truly enjoyed just sitting on the porch and watching the turkeys and deer as they would walk up into his yard.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, George and Louise Smith; sister, Hazel Walker; brothers, Don Smith, Robert Smith and Leon Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Donna E. Smith; sisters, Trish Fletcher, Brenda Sims and Linda Sneed; stepsons, Larry Woodall and Scotty Woodall; four grandchildren, Christian Woodall, Josh Woodall, Emily Woodall, Brooklynn Ferryy; and 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 1st, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee. Service will be held on Thursday, October 2nd at 1:00 pm. with Rev. Troy Simmons and Rev. Melvin Walker officiating. Burial will immediately follow at East Soddy Community Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jr Walker, Scotty Woodall, Donnie Smith, Steve Burchard, Ethan Norwood and Jason Heard. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Bill Bledsoe.

The family would like to extend a Special THANKS to his nephew, Tracy Sims and brother-in-law, Bill Bledsoe.
