David Glen Smith

DAVID GLEN SMITH, 56, passed away on December 7, 2025 after a 10 month battle with cancer. Throughout his ordeal, and until his final days, he maintained his dignity and positive attitude. He was kind and caring and he made friends for life. David is survived by his parents: Bruce & Lois Smith; his dear friend: Rick Davis; four siblings & their spouses: Kurt & Patricia Smith, Mark Smith & Sheila Ozalis, Steven & Cindy Smith, and Margaret (Meg) Smith & Nancy Detoma; nine nieces & nephews; three grand-nephews; one grand-niece and many life-long friends, all of whom are heartbroken and will miss him greatly.

David took great pride in his work preparing proposals for an engineering firm, but traveling & cooking were his passions. Mrytle Beach, SC was his happy place. He amazed us all with his ability to find shark teeth at the beach. He would gladly take a cruise to anyplace that allowed him to strap on a mask and snorkel. David loved to cook, he loved to eat and he loved to share the food that he made. He got great enjoyment from movies and true crime was his favorite genre. David's love of the theater and the arts could also be seen in his writing. He completed several plays and screen plays. He wrote his first play while still in high school and he used it to gain admission to the Tisch School of Arts at New York University.

David was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend and he will be missed dearly.

A viewing will be held at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT 06470 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on December 17, 2025, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at Marigold's on Main, 19 Main St., Newtown, CT 06470.
