David Stephen Springer

David Stephen Springer, 77, of Hartford, CT was called home on Thursday, October 16, 2025. He was born on September 2, 1948, in Trinidad and Tobago to the late Ormand Edwards and Marjorie (Springer) Blackman. At the age of 18 he migrated to the United States to pursue a better life. When he arrived in Connecticut, he attended AI Prince Technical school where he studied welding. He then went on to work at Pratt and Whitney before he founded the Springer Oil Company in the 70's. Springer oil has served the greater Hartford area for over 40 years.
David was an amazing man who was recognized by many including the Certificate Of Appreciation Award from Old Ship Zion Baptist Church, Businessman of Distinction award from State Treasurer Shawn Wooden, Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, and the community service Award from the Citizens Energy CITGO. He was an active member of the military, loved convertible cars, fishing at Cape Cod, and music, his favorite artist was Curtis Mayfield. He also loved to whistle.
He was married to Estelle Springer until she passed away on January 10, 2022. They were married for over 50 years. David leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: David A. Springer, Samuel Springer, Melissa Elmore, Callan DeBerry, and LaQuisha Springer; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Micheal Blackman and Windell Blackman; a sister, Sherry Ann Hall as well as a host of nieces nephews and other family members.
Besides his parents David was predeceased by his son, David Dillard; brothers, Samuel Edwards and Richard Blackman, and sister Shirley Edwards.
