David Stone

David Stone of West Bend died on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee at the age of 68. He was born October 13, 1955 in Watertown, NY to the late Graham & Jean (nee Trowbridge) Stone.
After graduating from high school, he attended Fredonia University in New York, studying music therapy. He then came to Wisconsin to pursue a music therapy internship with Cedar Community, later earning his degree in music therapy. While at Cedar Community, he met the love of his life, Jean Buteyn, who was also pursuing an internship with Cedar Community.
On August 15, 1981, Dave and Jean were united in marriage.
Dave continued to be a part of Cedar Community, holding various positions. He went back to school, earning his Masters of Arts Degree in Christian Studies from Trinity Divinity School while serving Cedar Community as a chaplain.
In 2015, Dave took his musical and spiritual passion to Community Church. He became the Director of Worship and truly taught the congregation how to worship and the joy of praising God. He was an amazing mentor to everyone on the worship team no matter what age or experience level. He took the time to encourage, teach and mentor. Dave was an amazing blessing and wonderful partner in ministry. His legacy will carry on through all those he impacted. Most recently, he took on the roll of Director of Care.
Above all else, he cherished his roll of husband, dad and later grandpa.
Survivors include wife Jean; son Luke (Deidre); grandchildren: Delilah, Leo and Alex; sisters: Denise Stone and Barb Stone; sister-in-law Jackie Stone; nephew Bram; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his brother Brian.
A Celebration of Dave's life will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Community Church in West Bend with a gathering from 4 until 5:45 p.m. with a service to follow at 6 p.m.
