David Charles Storlie

David Charles Storlie, 75, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, at his home in Lakeville, Minnesota. The family is so thankful to Brighton Hospice (Faribault) for helping us care for him at home in his final days.
He was born on April 6, 1949, at Swedish Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Helmi and Byron Storlie and grew up in Golden Valley, Minnesota, with brothers Bob and Bill (Linda). After graduating from Cooper High School, New Hope, Minnesota, he attended St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, graduating summa cum laude with degrees in economics and political science. In 1973 he graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. He was a U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General (LTJD) veteran. In February 1974, he joined Western Life Insurance Company in St. Paul, MN as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary. Starting in October 1988, he was employed at Illinois Mutual Life Insurance Company, Peoria, Illinois, as Vice President and General Counsel and retired from the company in February 2011.
As a member of the Peoria Seventh-day Adventist Church, he considered it a privilege to serve as a teacher, the treasurer, and elder.
Myelodysplastic syndrome resulted in a stem cell transplant, June 2017, at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. His stem cell donor match was a young man in England.
He was married to his wife Kathryn for 52 years and is survived by her, daughters Ara
and Risa (Rob), and his two grandsons Henryk and Hadrian who brought so much joy to his life.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held November 10, 2024, at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington, MN 55431, (952)884-8145, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour before the service. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed; click on the "Tribute Wall" tab of David's online obituary page. After the service, there will a time to mingle and enjoy some of the pies he liked.
