David E. Sykora, age 28, a resident of Plainfield, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 14, 2024. He was born on October 3, 1995 in Berwyn, IL.
David is survived by his loving parents, Donald and Linda (nee Roedell) Sykora; his brother, Andrew Sykora; his soulmate, Alyssa Meythaler; his maternal grandparents, Susan and Edwin Roedell; his aunts, Lisa (Ron) Knoll and god-mother Deborah Skrapates; his uncles, Robert Roedell and god-father, Dennis Skrapetes; cousins, Samantha Knoll, Haley Knoll, Nicia Skrapetes, Nick Skrapetes and Demitrius Skrapetes; his great-aunts, Ruth Hoyer and Bette (Craig) Williams and great-uncle George Kempe; his second cousins, Jack Williams, Kristopher Kempe, and Zachary Kempe; as well as many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Virginia and Edward Sykora.
David attended Plainfield South High School.
Throughout his life he loved to go fishing and boating. He enjoyed music and video-gaming with his brother and dad. David had his own unique style and loved his clothes. He was very handy and was known as "Fix It Dave". Most recently he was a Custodian with Plainfield School District 202.
David enjoyed being with his family and hanging out with his friends. His family will miss those big hugs, thoughtfulness, jokes and smiles. David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 3:00-7:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. A celebration of David's life will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
