David was born on March 24, 2002 in Marshfield to Aurelio and Teresa (Rojas) Tonche. He was a proud 2020 graduate of Stratford High School. David was known for having a kind soul and an amazing sense of humor. His teammates on the Tiger basketball team loved playing with him and shared countless laughs together. One teammate said "David is the most genuine and caring person I've ever met. His laugh and joking personality lit up a room. His best quality was his 'never give up' attitude. When he joined basketball and people doubted him, he stuck it out! The coaches and players loved being around him. David never took anyone or anything too seriously and it was always a breath of fresh air being in his presence." His friends will miss him greatly.
At the time of his death, David worked at AT&T in sales.
He is survived by his parents, Aurelio Tonche and Teresa Rojas and sister Lizeth Tonche, all of Stratford. He is further survived by his grandfather Rodrigo Rojas, grandmother Bertha Olguin and grandfather Carmelo Tonche. David was also close with his aunts, uncles and many cousins. He cherished his family and was an incredible son, brother, grandson, cousin and nephew. Family was very important to David and they all treasured him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hermelinda Saucedo.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many doctors and nurses who cared for David these past weeks. They would also like to thank their friends and family for their support throughout this difficult time.
