David Trahan, 63, of Jennings, passed away in his home on December 24, 2024.

David loved three things: God, His Family, and His Property.

God was always first in David's heart. He could be seen reading his Bible and taking notes in his devotional. Sometimes, he would put good old gospel hymns on that reminded him of his childhood.

He was known to leave words of encouragement or blessings on scrap paper on the front of the refrigerator for whomever was there to see and read. David's love of words would take on a journey with poetry. His work was later recognized and eventually published at some point in his life.

David's love for his family was huge and like no other... whether it was his boys, Britton and Brandon, his grands Braedon and Brantley, his brother, sisters, nieces, or nephews.

David was a regimented hard worker from early on and throughout his life. His early career in the oilfield was documented and unfortunately cut short due to an accident. Once David was able, he pursued other jobs. He later learned and mastered his skills as a mechanic. Later, he could be seen in the cabs of farming equipment planting and eventually harvesting crops for friends. Eventually, David helped with running crawfish businesses which led him to his own. He transformed several acres of his property into a successful crawfish pond. David loved the land his home sat upon and all the blessings that were celebrated upon it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and frogging with many.

When David became a grandpa, his love doubled, and his heart grew.

David opened his home to many people for the best bonfires, barbeque, and crawfish boils. David greeted most people with a big grin, a firm handshake, or a proper hug. David's smile lit up a room and his laughter came from his toes. His sense of humor was also quite evident and he used it to lighten up the moment. David loved lots of music, especially country and old hymns. It could be heard from his truck, his home, and even the crawfish boat.

David had a natural love of animals early on. From the cattle he personally named and called into pasture, to Tucker, his mini schnauzer mix that never left his side.

David Carl Trahan will be missed, but he left his love behind for all to remember. We know he was met by Jesus, healed instantly, and reunited with loved ones who went before him. His Mother, Father, Sister and others welcomed him home.

Remember him, when you see the sunrise or set, geese above or deer below, or when you pass a field of golden grain ready for harvest.

Rest In Peace Dear Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, Dad, and Friend.

He is survived by his sons, Britton Trahan and Brandon Trahan; sisters, Marjorie Trahan and Donna Trahan; half-sister, Willa Mae Trahan Ellis; half-brother, Bufford Trahan; grandchildren, Braedon and Brantley Trahan; and a host of extended family and friends who will never forget him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leman Trahan and Genevieve Bourgeois Trahan; sister, Katherine Trahan Beazer; half-sisters, Mae Rose Trahan and Evelyn Trahan Morvant; and a half-brother, Horace Trahan.

Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home.
