Daniel Joseph Trahan, 77, beloved Spouse, Father, Son, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
He was a native and resident of Chauvin, born on October 11, 1948 in Houma, LA, to Lawrence Joseph and Thelma Ledet Trahan.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin, LA on Saturday, February 14, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Daniel is survived by his loving spouse of 59 years, MayBelle N. Trahan; sons Chad Anthony Trahan (Wendy) and Bryan Joseph Trahan (Megan); daughters Danette Marie Trahan (Matt) and Stacey Anne Trahan Price (Sonny); grandsons Samuel Trahan; Cooper Trahan; and Brennan Witt; granddaughters Julie Trahan, Shelby Lau, Allyson Deslatte; Jolie Deslatte, Emmalyn Deslatte, Maegan Durand, Chelsey Price, and Sierra Price; great-granddaughter Eliza Lau; and great-grandson Theadore Lau; siblings Ronnie Trahan (Veronica), Susan Authement (Dudley), Curtis Trahan (Jenny), Wanda Pellegrin (Jim), Eurilda Matrana, and Angela Boling (Clint).
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Joseph and Thelma Ledet Trahan; his paternal grandparents Nicholas Henri and Viola Lirette Trahan; his maternal grandparents Willis Joseph and Olivia Dupre Ledet; his sister-in-law Veronica Dusenberry Trahan (Ronnie); his brother-in-law Dudley Authement, Sr. (Susan); his brother-in-law Anthony Matrana, Sr (Eurilda); his nephew Anthony Matrana, Jr Aka Tony (Eurilda); and his nephew Shane Pierron (Susan).
Daniel (a master story teller) held a passion for being outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or just sitting at a camp fire sharing old stories well into the night keeping the attention of everyone young and old. He was a true inspiration to every young hunter that crossed his path always ready to show them the hunting basics and celebrate their successes.
He proudly served in the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office rising to the level of Lieutenant with 44 years of service and as Constable for both Wards 6 & 7 of Terrebonne Parish for 42 years.
