David Weedman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 29, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of David S. Weedman. A one-of-a-kind treasure, our David left us on August 18, 2025 at the age of 82.

David was born in Longview, Wa to Harold and Margaret Weedman and was the middle child of two siblings, Holly Shank and Tracy Weedman. Growing up he quickly became a local legend in the Woodland, WA community. A natural athlete and three-sport star, he especially shined on the football field. David went on to graduate from Western Washington University, where he played linebacker and became the only player ever drafted into the NFL from his alma mater. His legacy lives on as he is proudly honored in the Western Washington University Hall of Fame to this day.

After a four-year stint in the NFL playing for the Washington Redskins for Vince Lombardi, Detroit Lions, and Philadelphia Eagles, he went on to pursue several careers, first as a girl's health teacher and assistant football coach at Kelso High School, then as a landscape designer, and ultimately as a successful real estate agent until his retirement.

David was first and foremost a lover of people. Those who knew him well can attest that he truly found joy in life's lessons, big and small, and embraced each moment. He was everyone's favorite jokester, always quick with a laugh and especially love to play pranks on his family and friends (and sometimes total strangers). His passions included gardening, wood working, golf, story telling, and most importantly attending to his beloved koi fish.

David is survived by his loving family: wife and companion of 35 years Leona; son: JD Weedman and wife Betsy; daughter: Wendy Woll and husband Matt; step daughters Kim Enyart and Lindsey Thomas and husband Jimmy; grandchildren: Marley Weedman Lorish and husband Andrew, Blade Weedman, Noah Weedman, Cooper Woll, Ava Woll, Ashley Watkins, Thomas Anderson and his precious dog Sophie. He is also survived by countless friends. If there was one thing David never lacked, it was people who loved to share in his laughter and company.

To our dearest David-known lovingly as Dad, Weedy, Weedster, Papa and Grandpa Weed, you have touched each of our lives in ways words can hardly capture. Your laughter, your stories, and the countless memories you created with us will forever be treasured in our hearts.
