It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David West, who left us on December 6, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 65 years old. Dave was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and a true friend to many. Dave's life was defined by his generous spirit and unyielding drive to help others. Whether fixing things around the house or lending a hand to a neighbor, when you just needed a guy, you called Dave. He always made time to be there for those in need. His willingness to give, both his time and his heart, made him a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew him. Dave had many passions that brought him joy. He was an avid fisherman, a lover of motorcycles, and enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Marcia. Together, they shared countless adventures, exploring new places and creating beautiful memories. But above all, Dave's greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored and who brought immense happiness to his life. Dave was also a dedicated and compassionate member of Alcoholics Anonymous for many years, where he found not only his own path to sobriety but also a sense of purpose in helping others. His unwavering commitment to supporting those in need was evident in the countless individuals he guided, mentored, and inspired along their own journeys to recovery. Dave believed in the power of community and was always ready to offer a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or a hand to lift someone up in their time of struggle. His legacy in AA is one of hope, kindness, and selfless service to others. Dave lived life to the fullest, embracing each day with enthusiasm and purpose. He was an example of strength, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. His legacy of generosity, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. Dave is survived by his wife Marcia West; his children, Kristin Drewis and husband Scott Drewis, Danny West and wife Molly West, Stephen West and wife Danielle West; grandchildren, Parker, Lexee, Bennett, Kenzie, Emmie, Jaxon, Maeve and June; brothers, Mike West, John West and Donald Letsch who will never forget the love he brought to their lives. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Letsch, mother Mary Letsch and infant sister Vicki Rene. A celebration of Dave's life will be held at Johnston River of Life on Saturday, January 4 from 1 – 3 pm. Rest in peace, Dave. Your kindness, warmth, and love will forever remain with us.
