David Alan Wilson, affectionately known as Al, passed away on January 9, 2026, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 70. Born on September 23, 1955, in
Red Springs, NC, Al was a cherished son, brother, husband, and friend.
Al was the beloved son of the late George Cleveland Wilson, Jr., and Hilda Stephen Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his dear brother, Henry Stephen Wilson. Throughout his life, Al was known for his gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Al owned and operated Brunswick Plantation Realty, where he brought integrity and commitment to his work. In his leisure time, Al found joy in tending to his yard, a labor of love that reflected his appreciation for nature's beauty. He was an avid sports enthusiast who could often be found cheering on his favorite teams. Al shared a special bond with his cat, Buddy, who brought him comfort and companionship.
Al is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Mary Gail Jacaruso Wilson, who stood by his side through life's journey. Mary's family, including sister-in-law Judith Anne Stalder and her husband George, brothers-in-law Joseph Reed Jacaruso and his wife Susan, Michael Jacaruso and his wife Patti, William Abraham Jacaruso and his wife Toni, and James Dorsey Jacaruso and his wife Kari, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also mourn Al's passing.
Al's passing was unexpected, resulting from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. His absence leaves a profound void in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In accordance with Al's wishes, services will be private. The family thanks everyone for their understanding and support during this difficult time.
