David L. Winkler, age 84, of rural St. Cloud "St. Joe", passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary where he resided since August 2021.
He was born March 8, 1938, to John & Irene (Ruffing) Winkler. David attended grade school in Stockbridge and graduated from New Holstein High School.
On October 29, 1960, he married Adeline Stephanie at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. They were married for 53 years until Adeline's passing on December 29, 2013.
David & Adeline, along with their family farmed in the Town of Marshfield near St. Joe. David spent his whole life farming.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Joseph Church.
Survivors include his seven children, Dan (Pat) Winkler of St. Cloud, Mark (Mary Jo) Winkler of St. Cloud "St. Joe", Dale (Dawn) Winkler of Valders, Chris (Pete) Goeser of St. Cloud, Eileen (John) Diedrich of St. Cloud, Mary (Don) Daun of St. Cloud, and Cindy (Troy) Johnson of St. Cloud; 20 grandchildren, Stacy (Jacob) Lautenbach, Jenny Winkler (special friend, Grant Sippel), Sarah (Kyle) Preissner, Matthew (Kate) Winkler, Nicholas (Anna) Winkler, Katelynn (David) Hechel, Elizabeth Winkler, Jessica Winkler (special friend, AJ Mashock), Tanner and Kelli Jo Winkler, Nicole Goeser (special friend, Aaron Wehner), Stephanie Goeser, Jackie (Brian) Lallier, Jodi (Jason) Kempf, Jill Diedrich, Jessica Diedrich (special friend, Trevor Roehrig), Alisha Daun (fiancé, Cody Liebe), Jacob (Rachel) Daun, and Devon and Brooke Johnson; six great grandchildren; Nova Lautenbach, Madelynn & Brooklynn Hechel, Eleanor Winkler, Everleigh Mashock, and Quinn Kempf; his sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Juliana (Richard) Ruffing of New Holstein, Valeria (Larry) Kempf of Kiel, Kathy Wagner of Mount Calvary, Ann (Art) Hage of Appleton, and Kenneth Turba of St. Anna. David is also survived by many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Adeline; his daughter, Elizabeth; his parents, John & Irene Winkler; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Norbert & Angela Stephanie; his brother, James Winkler (Barbara Winkler Merten); his sister, Jackie (John) Zimmerman; his sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Lydia Turba, Stanley Stephanie, Lester (Betty) Stephanie, and Paul Wagner; and David's special friend, Rita Immel.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Joseph Church in St. Joe, W620 County Road G, St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap & Rev. Oliver Bambenek will officiate. David will be laid to rest next to his wife, Adeline in the church cemetery.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with David's family from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street, St. Cloud, WI 53079. Visitation will also be at the funeral home Saturday morning, December 3rd from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
David's family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home and SSM St. Agnes Hospice; also to Fr. Oliver for visiting with him as well as friends and family.
