David J. Wood born 9/17/29, died 5/14/25 in Northville, Michigan. David Jerome Wood was born September 17, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan and throughout his life, touched many people with his kindness, wisdom and compassion. He was a graduate of Wayne State University and its Law School and practiced law in the Detroit metropolitan area for over 60 years. David served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean conflict. He was a founding member of the Wood and Wood law firm which evolved into Wood, Kull, Herschfus, Obee and Kull. A devoted family man, David was also a loyal Lions fan, even in the difficult times, and an enthusiastic Michigan Wolverines fan and spent many happy hours watching his teams play. David and Janet traveled extensively throughout the world and enjoyed their Florida condo in their later years. A life well lived.
He was the devoted husband of the late Janet (Alarie) Wood. Loving father of Suzan (Peter) Caplan, David Jr. (Darlene), and Daniel (Araceli). Proud grandfather of Michael (Heather) Caplan, Aliza Caplan, Nicholas (Katie) Wood, Amanda (Daniel) Kozlowski, Dylan Wood and Riley Wood. Doting great-grandfather of Casey, Milo and Theo Caplan, Jackson and Camden Wood, and Kole Kozlowski, with one more on the way. Lifelong best friend of Jean and Joe Middleton. Brother of the late William (the late Tem), the late Louis (the late Joyce) and the late RoseAnn (the late Donald) Landis. Also predeceased by his parents William August Wood and Doris Reichle Wood.
Private services were held. Interment at Kirk in the Hills Church, Bloomfield HIlls, Michigan. Donations to the charity of one's choice. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of David, please visit our floral store.
