DAVID ZOLTAN ZANDER, age 84, passed away on Friday, May 2nd, peacefully at his home in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Born in Canton, Ohio, David graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in engineering, was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and was a proud Buckeye. He spent most of his career at Owens-Illinois as an engineer in Toledo, Ohio and also resided in Walnut, California and Bluffton, South Carolina before moving to Nicholasville, Kentucky. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, but his true passion lay on the golf course. He was an avid golfer, known for his sense of humor and encyclopedic knowledge of the game. He was a member of the Sylvania Country Club in Toledo, Ohio, the Industry Hills Golf Club in Industry Hills, California and Island West Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina. He enjoyed traveling and playing in tournaments with family and friends and loved the challenge and camaraderie (along with winning a few bets). David is survived by his wife, Janis Zander; three sons, Rick (Kim) Zander and Greg (Julie) Zander, both of Lexington, KY and Scott (Debbie) Hilty of Toledo, Ohio; a daughter, Lorie (Randy) Hart of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Christopher) Flaga, Tyler (Emily) Zander, Kaylie (Ronnie Sims) Zander, Clay Zander, Nikki Hart, Dylan Hart and Delaney Hilty and three great grandchildren, Lyric Flaga, Emersyn Zander and Zolton Zander. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zoltan and Irene Mary Farkas Zander and three brothers, Jim Zander, Zoltan Zander and Gary Zander. David loved his family and was a true and loyal friend. His boisterous laugh, wicked sense of humor and infectious smile will be greatly missed by all that were lucky enough to know him.
"The seasons pass the years will roll
Time and change will surely show
How firm thy friendship OHIO"
