Dawn Marie (Brown) Schubel "Mimiishke niibikwe" meaning "Running Water Woman", of the Bear Clan and of Cass Lake, MN, began her journey to the spirit world on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from the Villas in Osseo, MN. She was born the daughter of Barbara (Johnson) and Ronald Brown on April 4, 1963, in Minneapolis, MN.
Life is nurtured by our drinking of water just as all life from this stream. "Indizhikaaz mukua Bewsa" I was allowed to be nurtured by my mother's waters and so many others. She was loved MORE than I can count by so many. She will be remembered for her contributions to the arts and native culture, and all those left to love and cherish her memories. Mother, we know you're on your own time, but we await you. We can almost hear the thunder from the ride, we know it is getting close to bringing you home. LET THEM ALL HEAR YOUR RIDE!!
Those greeting Dawn in the spirit world are her parents, Ronald Brown Sr. and Barbara (Johnson) Brown; siblings, Don and Mary Brown.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her mother, Laurie Carlson; sons, James and William; grandchildren, Harper, Haidyn, Hailey, and the grandson she has yet to meet.
The wake for Dawn will begin at 6:00 p.m. Saturday September 21, 2024, and continue until her 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Monday September 23, 2024, all to be held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Naabekwa, will be her Spiritual Advisor. Helping lay her to rest are Thomas Brown, Ray Brown, Daniel Brown, Byron Brown, Harley Brown, and Mishiikii Benais Brown, alternates pallbearers are Travis White, and Jame Hikes. Honorary pallbearers are all those who knew and loved her and will carry her love forward. Interment will be immediately following the services at the Bena cemetery, Bena, MN.
Dawns care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN. Online condolence may be left at www.northernpeace.com
