Mr. Charles "Dean" Crotts, 78, a resident of Archdale, passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2025. Dean was born on November 13, 1946, to the late Charlie Oscar and Gladys Kennedy Crotts. A lifelong resident of the area, he worked as a truck driver and retired from Food Lion after many years of dedicated service.
Dean was preceded in death by his loving wife, Connie Davis, whom he married on February 26, 1972.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Julie Billings (Terry) of Trinity, and Dana Crotts (Eric Yalch) of Chapel Hill; his grandchildren, Adisen and Annslee Billings, and Connor and Layla Yalch; his twin sister, Jean Wagoner, and her husband, Ted; and his nieces, Wendy and Meredith.
Dean had a passion for classic cars and shared this interest with many lifelong friends. He enjoyed attending car shows and occasionally drove his '55 Chevy when the weather was perfect. This group of men were like brothers to Dean and are extended family to Julie and Dana.
Dean also cherished his Food Lion community, looking forward to weekly check-in calls and twice-a-month breakfasts.
A celebration of Dean's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Pastor Norman Weeks officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The family will also receive visitors at the home of Julie Billings following the services at 4098 Hopewell Church Rd., Trinity, NC 27370.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Mt. Gilead Church Seniors Luncheon Program, c/o Mt. Gilead Church, 4736 Mt. Gilead Church Rd., Sophia, NC 27350.
