Audrey "Dean" McIntosh, age 87, was born May 22, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Audrey and Ruby (Gardner) Brown. After a long battle with cancer, he went home to be with his heavenly Father in the early hours of Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Dean was raised by his stepfather and mother, Don and Ruby McIntosh, and attended elementary school in the Milo area and graduated from Nevada, MO, High School with the class of 1957. After high school, he lived with a relative in Texas and worked with them on harvesting crews from Texas to Canada. He also lived in Vernon, TX, and learned the trade of laying carpet there and began working at that trade till illness stopped him in the fall of 2024. While living in Vernon, Dean enjoyed the rodeo circuit as a bull rider and also raced quarter horses. He was an avid pool player and also loved playing poker. After he returned to Missouri, Dean continued laying carpet and continued with those interests, plus all the mornings with his coffee friends and many other friends throughout the Moundville and Nevada area, always being the jokester among friends.
In February 1998 he was married to Mary Dammann-Bruton at Peace Lutheran Church in Joplin, MO. They moved to a small acreage near Moundville, MO, and continued living there till his death. Dean loved the Lord above all else and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He leaves behind to mourn, his wife Mary of the home; two daughters Deana (Tommy) Hall of Union City, TN, and Susan Gearld of Vernon, TX; stepdaughters Julie Bruton of Garden Grove, CA, and Robin Leininger of Topeka, KS; stepson Todd (Cathy) Bruton of Cripple Creek, CO; grandchildren J.R. (Jennifer) Hall of Stephensville, TX, Tiffany (Cedric) Scates of Union City, TN, Lauren (Joe) Varela of Princeton, TX, Dalton (Destiny) Gearld of Vernon, TX; Dean Brown (Rylee) of Castle Rock, WA, John Hair of Vancouver, WA; step grandchildren Jessica Jackson, Matt Bruton, Andrew Bruton, Hannah Schlegelmilch, Dietrich Bruton, Josh Leininger, Ashley Freeman, Meghann Chaudhry, and Nathan Smith; twin sister Ruby (Jean) Nieweg of Louisiana, MO; also a number of step and great grandchildren. He was my husband, my lover, my friend, my laugh partner, my companion. We did everything together – I will miss you and your quirky sense of humor. Rest in peace – I will see you again. I love you…Your wife, Mary.
