Dean Scinto Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Dean Richard Scinto, 60, of Vernon, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Harlem Hospital in New York City. He was the beloved husband of Marie-Agnes (Rose) Scinto, with whom he shared over 26 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Bridgeport, CT, Dean was the son of Jeannette (Tordoff) Scinto and the late John J. Scinto. He grew up in nearby Milford and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Trumbull. He went on to earn degrees from Eastern Connecticut State University and Sacred Heart University, where he received his master's.

Dean began his working life as a teenager at the Connecticut Post alongside his father and other family members. After college, he launched a successful career in electrical sales, starting with Grand Light, then moving to Capital Light (later Rexel), and most recently working as an outside salesman for Granite City Electric.

In 1999, Dean married the love of his life, Marie, and together they built a warm and happy home in Vernon. A true sports enthusiast, Dean was a lifelong fan of the New York Islanders, Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and UConn sports. Whether he was at a game or watching from home, he rarely missed one.

Dean was proud to be inducted into the Eastern Connecticut State University Sports Hall of Fame as well as a member of the ECSU and Rockville High School Sports Hall of Fame Committees. Beyond sports, Dean had a deep love for music, especially Bruce Springsteen. He followed "The Boss" across the country, attending countless concerts over the years.

Above all, Dean was a kind, devoted, and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a big heart and touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Marie, his mother Jeannette Scinto of San Antonio, TX, his stepchildren Jessica Marie Margelony and her husband Michael of Willington, and Alexander William Call of Vernon, and his beloved grandson, Greyson. He also leaves behind his brother John J. Scinto, Jr. and his wife Stacy of New Braunfels, TX; his sister Carla Sissick and her husband Bryan of Milford; his brother-in-law Mark Rose and his wife Karen of Windsor; and his sister-in-law Rita Green of Windsor Locks. Dean is also survived by several nieces and nephews - all of whom he adored. Dean was predeceased by his sister-in-law Barbara LaMay and her husband Timothy.

He also leaves his loyal boxer, Ali.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., Vernon.
