WADE- Dean Wade, age 91, a resident of Snellville, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Corinth Christian Church in Loganville with Terry Shelnutt officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM prior to the service at Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Loganville. Dean was born in Loganville. He graduated from Grayson High School in 1953, then he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Dean and his loving wife Gloria spent many years tending the family homestead on Rosebud Road. He enjoyed seeing after his cows, bulls and beagles. Each of his revered "huntin" dogs had a name, but his special guard dogs were his Chihuahuas – Tippy, Peanut, Spotty, Little Bit and Black Black, just to name a few. No one could even shake Dean's hand without being checked out first by his guard dogs. Dean worked at General Motors in Doraville during the day, then came home to tend to his animals and his many crops including corn and butter beans. As a member of the UAW Local 10, he retired from General Motors. All the while he and Gloria were active members at Corinth Christian Church. He even drove the bus for Corinth Christian Church for many years. Though he and Gloria did not have children of their own, every niece and nephew knew they were dearly loved by Uncle Dean and Aunt Gloria. It was an adjustment for everyone when they moved to
Bowman, GA from Loganville. For years afterwards, they still came back to church weekly until they found a new church in Bowman. Dean truly believed actions speak louder than words. When he did speak, his words were meaningful and often funny. He often cracked up his caregivers with quick comebacks to simple questions. His primary caregiver, his niece Janice Adams, was very much like a daughter to Dean. She looked out for him and did her best to make him happy, even when that required feeding table food to his Chihuahuas. The last child of Bert and Mary Lizzie (Brand), he is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria Shelnutt Wade, his sisters Kathleen Wade Tuck, Jean Wade Norton, and brother, Edsel Wade. He is survived by his in- laws from the Shelnutt family – Gerald, Barbara, Ken, Ruth, Ernie, Janice as well as nieces and nephews, Janice Adams of Snellville, Jimmy Tuck of Monroe, Melvin Tuck of Greensboro, Michelle Norton of Brookhaven, Troy Wade of Woodstock, Julie Wade Marquez of North Carolina and many more nieces and nephews.
