Inurnment will be at the Britton Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Olson Funeral Chapel in Britton, concluding with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Deanna Dawn Olson was born October 9, 1950 in Britton, SD to Douglas and Alouise "Sally" (Haywood) Olson. She attended her schooling in Britton and graduated from Britton High School. During high school she worked at Tom's Drive Inn during the summers. In 1970 Deanna married Larry E. Jahnig. They moved to Raymond, SD for a few years before returning back to the Britton area in 1980. They were blessed with five sons and Deanna truly loved being a mother. For a few years she worked at Britton Grain Management Corp. after the boys had grown. She worked at various jobs around Britton before starting her long term position as a bookkeeper for the Britton Elevator. She worked there for many years until her health started to decline in 2024. Deanna was very involved in the community and was a member of many organizations and groups, such as Archie's Turtles Relay for Life, Britton Auxiliary and a member of First Presbyterian Church, just to name a few. She enjoyed bowling and served on the bowling committee. She also liked golfing and would help keep score at tournaments over the years. Deanna was a wonderful cook and had a green thumb for plants and flowers. Most of all, Deanna loved her family and was so proud of her five sons and grandsons. Deanna passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 74. She is survived by her sons, Lyle "Bumper" of Britton, Lance of Madison, SD, Lucas (Ciara Tygart) of Britton and Jason of Britton; her grandsons, Nathan, Ben, Carter, Keifer, Ely and Lyric; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Jahnig; brothers, Steven Olson, Brian (Tammy) Olson and Roger (Kim) Olson; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents; and her son, Lester Jahnig. Condolences may be directed to Lucas Jahnig – 1004 5th St. – Britton, SD 57430.
