Debbie Kay Barnett (Gillespie), 60, of Weston, WV, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Debbie was a familiar and cherished presence in many lives, known for her warmth, quick wit, and ability to make even the most routine interactions feel special. She spent years working at places like, the Specialty Shop and the Lewis County Fire Office, before retiring from Weston Walmart after 23 years. There, she was beloved by customers who often chose her checkout line just for the chance to catch up, share their joys, and see comfort in her kindness. She made even the most routine errand feel like a visit with a friend.
Debbie found joy in the simple things - reading, playing cards, going fishing, testing out new recipes, and spending time with those she loved. She had a way of making people feel welcome, whether it was over a home-cooked meal or a shared laugh.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Barnett of Weston, her sons, Justin Netz Roth (Robbie) of Pittsburgh and CJ Davis of Weston, granddaughter, Tammy Carpenter, father, Glenn "Butch" Gillespie (Doreen), father in law, Dwight Barnett, brother, Glenn "Butchie" Gillespie, Jr., sister in law, Louella Crites (Scott), niece, Morgan Lattea (Daniel), nephews, Tristan and Corbin Gillespie, Walker Marteney, and Kyle Marteney (Rhianna), 4 great nephews, and 2 great nieces. Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Kay Gillespie (Pumphrey) and her mother in law, Rita Barnett.
While her passing leaves a void, her spirit will live on in the connections she built and the laughter she shared. The family asks that you honor Debbie's memory in the way she lived – by taking a moment to check in on someone, sharing a laugh, or simply making another person's day a little brighter.
Family and friends are invited to honor Debbie's life at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston for viewing on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m and on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chad Lewis officiating.
