Debbie Lax left this life on July 30, 2022 to join the Lord. She was born in Hot Springs on January 28, 1957 to Erwin Lax and Barbara Lax Greer, both of whom preceded her in death. Debbie lost her precious daughter, Kristi French, on April 23, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Evelyn Frank and Harry and Libbie Lax, her sister Heather Lax Tollette, her niece Ava Tollette and her best friend, Dean Eddy.
She is survived by her daughter, Amber Welborn, brothers Mike Lax (Billie) and Ryan Lax, grandchildren Tyler Kane (Hali) and Faith Welborn, great-grandson, David Conner Kane, and nieces/nephews Lauren Lax, Ashley Lax Sineath (Phil), Jared Lax, Aja Guinn and Amya Tollette, and bonus daughters Stephanie Rains, Bevin Ashen-Brenner and Hannah Ashen-Brenner Garrison.
Debbie spent her entire life in Hot Springs, where she made a tremendous impact on so many who had the good fortune to have their path cross hers with her quiet, gentle, loving spirit. She made a decision as an adult to follow Christ, which would prove to be a bedrock of comfort and support to her as she struggled with the loss of her daughter Kristi and several debilitating illnesses. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who knew Debbie to describe her as anything other than kind to all she met. Debbie loved people, never met a stranger and gave freely of herself to others without judgment, always willing to lend an ear, provide an encouraging word, give a gentle hug or to pray fervently, without ceasing, for others and their struggles. She was a member of LakePoint City Church, where she loved to participate in community outreach to help others in need, which is just another glimpse of the kindness that she extended so freely to others. Her other great love in her life was her daughter Amber, who was so close to her, and of whom she was so proud as she watched Amber grow as a daughter, mom, grandmom and friend.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks, appreciation and love to Alan Stanich and Susie Wilson, who have been wonderful friends, and to the ICU team at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs who treated Debbie with the highest level of care, compassion and love in their effort to heal her. She was blessed to be with family her last days on this earth and she experienced a peaceful transition to her heavenly home where she is completely healed and suffering no more. She will be dearly missed as a wonderful mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
Vistiation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
A celebration of Debbie's life will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 4th at LakePointe City Church with Pastor Greg Bearss officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
