Deborah Jean "Debbie" Beard (nee White) passed away on March 14, 2024, in New Albany, IN, at the age of 68. She was born on April 22, 1955, in Jeffersonville, IN. Debbie, as she was affectionately known, had a fulfilling career as a mail carrier at the Georgetown Post Office, where she worked for more than 20 years before retiring. She was a beloved mother, sister and friend.
Debbie is survived by her daughter, Robyn Beard; sister, Janie Kidwell; brother, Charles White; sister-in-law, Sandy Beard; former husband, Robert Beard; as well as many nieces and nephews and longtime friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Bertha White; father, James Thurman White; brother, James White; and sister, Janice Lang.
Debbie was a member of the New Albany Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where, in her younger years, she taught Sabbath school and was loved by all the kids in her class. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and friends, and in her free time, she enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, watching movies, playing cards and going out to eat.
A service to honor and remember Debbie will be held on Saturday, March 23, at the Legacy Funeral Center-Scott Chapel, located at 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, IN 47130. Visitation will take place from 11am to 2pm, followed by a memorial service at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Floyd County Family YMCA in Debbie's memory.
