Deborah Darlene Cummings passed away on September 11, 2025, at the age of 64, in Dearborn, Michigan. Born on September 10, 1961, in Wayne, Michigan, Deborah's life was a testament to the power of nurturing and artistic expression.
Deborah's early years were spent under the guidance of her late parents, Paul and Emma Jernigan. She grew up alongside her siblings, the late Paul and Nancy Jernigan, in an environment that fostered her lifelong passions for art and nature. Her creative spirit shone brightly as she painted and crafted, leaving a legacy of beauty that will be cherished by all who knew her.
The heart of Deborah's world was her family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Floyd Cummings, and together they raised a family that was the embodiment of her loving spirit. Her children, Brandy Vann, Candy Vann (Harvey Oliver), Amanda Ware (Richard Ware), Fransica Vann, and Marie Cummings (Brandon Brown), were her pride and joy. She instilled in them the values of kindness, appreciation for nature, and the importance of family. Deborah's role as a mother extended with grace and enthusiasm to her grandchildren, Daniel (Tayler), Dylan, Tiffney, Paul, Jacob, Mason, Chase, Owen, and Samuel, and her great-grandchildren, Amelia and Duke. She loved being a grandmother and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, guiding them with the same gentle hand that had nurtured her own children.
Deborah's love for the outdoors was evident in her fondness for camping. From the adventurous days of tent camping in her youth to the serene cabin retreats of her later years, she embraced the beauty of the natural world. She passed on this love to her children, teaching them to respect and revel in the wonders of the outdoors.
A woman of many talents, Deborah's artistic abilities were not just confined to canvas. Her home was surrounded by a garden that was an abundance of colors and fragrances, a testament to her green thumb and her joy in tending to flowers. Her children often joined her in this labor of love, learning from their mother the satisfaction of nurturing growth and beauty.
Those who knew Deborah will remember her as a loving and friendly soul, always ready with a smile and a kind word. Her presence was a comfort and a joy to her family and friends, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her warmth and generosity.
