Deborah Marie Gosser, 69, of Ocean Pines, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at her residence. Born on August 9, 1953 in Plainfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George Lewis Hummel Jr. and the late Marie Elizabeth Ruben Hummel.
She graduated from North Plainfield High School Class of 1971 and later from Somerset County College. Deborah served as an Administrative Assistant for many years with American Hoechst where she met the love of her life, Ronnie G. After her relocation to the Eastern Shore with Ron, Debbie sought employment with US Airways at Salisbury Airport where she would arise, "at o'dark thirty" to assist travelers at the ticket counter and pursue her greatest interest of travel. After Debbie's retirement from US Airways, Debbie returned to the customer service industry at the Beach Plaza Hotel in Ocean City, MD where she enjoyed the interaction with her guests and watching dolphins from a distance.
Deborah was a participant of the Bell Ringing ministry at Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury, also attended activities at Zion UMC Bishopville, MD. Debbie was always active in Katie's and her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She enjoyed extensive traveling throughout the globe with friends and family. Debbie was an extraordinary entertainer, cooking and enjoying time with family and friends and ensuring their needs were met before her own. "If you left hungry it was your own fault." When Debbie "G" received something special in return you could guarantee that she would "OMG" "luv, luv, luv" it. Her hobbies included sewing, golfing, "biking the boards", attending Broadway musicals, concerts, baking, and bird watching with her granddaughter Maggie. Debbie had a gift of "turning frowns upside down." Debbie cherished the special bonds with many of her friends, especially with her cousin, Susan Huff. After retirement from the Beach Plaza Hotel, Debbie enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren and her new puppy, Winston.
Deborah is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Charles "Ronnie" Gosser, three daughters, Kathryn Suzanne Gosser, Debbie Davis and her husband Dan of Leesburg, VA; Tammy Stanard of Leesburg, VA, a sister, Carol Hummel of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; a brother, Jeffrey Paul Hummel, Sr. and his wife Jane of Whitehouse Station, NJ; a nephew, Jeffrey Paul Hummel, Jr. and his wife Jill of Belvidere, NJ; two nieces, Ashley Berarov and her husband Michael of Easton, PA, Kimberly Clemente of East Brunswick, NJ; five grandsons, Franklin Gosser Stockett of Ocean Pines, MD, Will Davis of Leesburg, VA, Charlie Davis of Leesburg, VA, Jack Davis of Leesburg, VA, Logan Stanard of Leesburg, VA; and two granddaughters, Magnolia Stockett of Ocean Pines, MD, Emily Stanard of Leesburg, VA.
Deborah is preceded in death by her loving parents and a brother, George Lewis Hummel, III.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club, 1 Mumford Landing Road, Ocean Pines, MD 21811 from 11 AM - 1 PM. If you are planning to attend please RSVP by contacting Kathryn Gosser, daughter, at 410-936-8209.
