Deborah Jane Katz

DEBORAH JANE KATZ. Debbie was born on May 16, 1949 in Warren, Ohio, daughter of Ed and Jane Exler. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 5, 2025.

Debbie was a proud graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in Warren and then went on to study nursing as St. Luke's Hospital Nursing School in Cleveland. Upon graduating, Debbie worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke's.

In 1973, Debbie met Mark who was attending law school at Case Western Reserve University, and they were married in 1974 following his law school graduation.

Debbie enjoyed many visits to Cape Cod to visit her closest friend, attending Cleveland baseball games, attending shows at the Cleveland Playhouse and cheering for the Browns and Buckeyes. She also treasured her trips to Florida and California to watch her daughter Megan run Disney half-marathons and in addition, attending multiple live sporting events including Cleveland Indians post-season games with her son Craig. Most of all, Debbie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whether at school and sporting events, or at Disney World and The Disney Cruises.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Mark, daughter Megan, son Craig (Andrea), brother Ed Exler (Dee), sister Cindi Greenawalt (Greg) and grandchildren Jake and Leah, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, Debbie's family would appreciate donations to the Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospitals to recognize the excellent care which Debbie received.

Funeral Service Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the SCHULTE & MAHON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 5252 MAYFIELD RD., LYNDHURST (BETWEEN RICHMOND AND BRAINARD). The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website. Interment private. The family will receive friends AT THE FUNERAL HOME FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14 FROM 4 TO 7 P.M. AND SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15 FROM 10 TO 11 A.M.
