Deborah Ann Leavitt, 73, of Sumter, SC, was ushered into the presence of her Savior on July 13th. Deborah was born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 25, 1951 to John and Margaret (Agnello) Maroon. She graduated from Madonna High School in 1970. She was predeceased by her mother, father, sister, brother, husband and son. She had three children, Chuck Wilson of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Kristine Lee (David) of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Brian Wilson (deceased).
Deborah is survived by her two children, Charles Wilson and Kristine Wilson-Lee.
Her husband, Dennis Leavitt, and her moved to southwestern New York in 1980 to raise their two remaining children after losing their four-year-old son Brian in 1979. They mutually ran a campground together and eventually their own businesses. Deborah owned and operated her own retail business for nearly 40 years. She retired in 2013 and moved to South Carolina to be closer to her son and daughter.
Deborah was known for her entrepreneurial spirit and her love and passion for life. She was always the life of the party, and never met a stranger. It was not unlike her to talk to any stranger and ask them about their life and pray with them. Deborah loved her church family and was always helping and serving others. She helped with the senior adult groups at her church and was the leader of the YES (Young Energetic Seniors) group.
Deborah's greatest joys in life were remodeling, redesigning, and building things with her hands, but her greatest love was her family; her children and her grandchildren. Her grandchildren brought her great joy and she loved visiting with them.
Deborah loved helping others by cooking, bringing food over, hosting others in her home, caring for others, and sharing the gospel with anyone she met. Deborah will always be remembered for her energetic spirit and her no can-do attitude. She always gave an answer for the hope that was in her!
Deborah was ready to meet her Maker and we know there is a party going on in heaven, as she rejoices with Jesus and those who have gone before her!
Her funeral will be held at Wise Drive Baptist Church on Thursday July 18th at 6pm.
The Snyder Funeral Home - Lasater Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
