Obituary of Deborah Elaine Marcus
Deborah Elaine Marcus, 64 of Leesville, SC was called home on November 23, 2022.
Debbie was born on December 9, 1957, in Luray, Virginia to the late Levi Dallas and Edith Mae Dallas. She was the tenth out of twelve children. Debbie graduated from Page County High School.
Debbie married Eric Daryl Marcus in 1987 in Sperryville, Virginia and they enjoyed 35 happy years together. On October 6, 1991, Debbie and Eric welcomed their son Eric Daryl Marcus II, and their lives would forever be changed as they both devoted their lives to their beloved son. Debbie and Eric were blessed with a daughter when Eric married, Emily Leonard in Aruba in June 2015. All of their lives would further change when Eric and Emily welcomed their son, Jackson Xavier Marcus in September 2018. In 2021, Eric and Debbie moved to South Carolina to be near their son, his wife, and their grandson.
Travis Thomas and his family, Sophie and their children Payton, Cambrie, and Bristol were loved as a second son and family to Debbie and Eric. Eric II and Travis were raised as brothers and practically inseparable.
Debbie's greatest accomplishments were her family and she was always proud to be called a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, and an aunt. She was a proud, loving sister to 26 siblings including in-laws, and an aunt to 50 nieces and nephews, and 44 great nieces and nephews. Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed sharing so many adventures in travel with her husband, sister-in-law Terri Perryman, and her husband, Bill.
Debbie is survived by her siblings and in-laws, Randolph and Donna Dallas, Jeffrey and Gail Dallas, Juanita Breeden, Phyllis (Judy) Meadows, Rosemary (Clooney) Presgraves, and Dixie Presgraves.
In addition to her parents, Levi and Edith Mae, Debbie is preceded in death by her siblings and in-laws, Diane Dallas, Barbara Good, Joyce and Jimmy Whiteside, Freddie and Crystal Dallas, Yvonne (Bonnie) May and her niece, Chrissy Meadows.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. There will be a graveside service in her honor on November 29, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road in Columbia, South Carolina with Jason Bryant officiating. For those unable to attend in person the service will be livestreamed .

I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.

I am still trying to understand, trying to figure out why, but most of all my heart is breaking for Eric and Little Eric. I was blessed to have known Debbie, and she will be an amazing angel!
