Deborah Straight Obituary
Debbie completed her bachelor's degree in Home Economics at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Debbie had an at home sewing business, "Straight Stitches," for many years crafting home decorating items, window treatments, and performing alterations. Around 2013, Debbie obtained her license as a real estate agent, initially as an agent with Sterling Real Estate Group, then as an agent with CMK Real Estate, and ultimately as an agent with Howard Hannah Real Estate Services. Debbie had a natural talent for assisting clients on both sides of the transactions and understanding the value of homes in our region.
Debbie partnered with Redemption Church in Clifton Park for the past 2½ years, serving in the children's ministry and singing in the choir. Debbie loved traveling and enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, golf, biking, skiing, and paddle boarding. Debbie was also a regular participant in group fitness classes at the YMCA.
Debbie is survived by her husband Rich, her son David (Becca), her daughter Sarah, and grandchildren Emerson and Hazel. Debbie is also survived by her sister Cathy Oates (John), her sister Sue Doran (Bob), and her brother Bruce Corey. Debbie was predeceased by her father Leonard Corey, her mother Lois Corey, and her son Jonathan.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, January 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 202 Milton Ave, Ballston Spa, NY. Relatives and friends are also invited to a Celebration of Life service on Friday, January 9, at 1:00 p.m., also held at the First Baptist Church in Ballston Spa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Redemption Church, 1315 Rt 146, Clifton Park, NY 12065.

I had the fortunate blessing of working with Deb on a Real Estate transaction in 2025. It was a joy to work with her and although I only had a few transactions with her over the years she will be missed by many. We shared our mutual love for the Lord and she is now with her Savior in heaven. To her family, thank you for the opportunity to know her and work together with her.

My husband and I are very sad to hear of the passing of Deborah for the past few years she´s been assisting us in a house hunt in the Ballston spa area. She was always willing to drop whatever she was doing at the last minute to show the latest listing. She was a very nice person and the news is super sad. Deb will be missed by countless people, especially her family of course. What a beautiful soul she was!! Full of Joy and faithfulness to her Lord and savior Jesus the Christ!! We will not stop praying for you all and we are always here for you!!!! Life can be so hard, so challenging. You all know that all too well. Her light is still shining with Jesus. With Johnny and with so many more! God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good. A hard truth. May God flood you with his strength during these difficult days months and years. His presence and His peace to you. His perfect peace, through it all.

Rick and family. My deepest condolences to all of you. Debbie was a wonderful kind soul, always smiling and offering help. I knew Debbie since 1990. She did all my alterations and sewed my draperies. When my husband was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 she used to txt inspirational quotes and was very supportive. It meant so much to me. I wish we had more time together. Rest in peace dear Debbie

Debbie was a beautiful soul. If you knew her for a lifetime or 5 minutes, her kind spirit was evident. Although we've been out of the area for almost 8 years, Deb was SO instrumental in selling our home in NY after we had relocated to Tennessee. Both Dan and I were blessed to serve with her at First Baptist Church in Ballston Spa and we will never forget the light she brought to this world.

Rich, we are so very sorry for the loss of Deb. She is such a beautiful lady, always encouraging others, and helping those in a time of need. I remember one wedding I was a Bridesmaid for, and the morning of the wedding, Deb was fixing my dress, and something was wrong with the stitching and Deb came to the rescue and fixed it, so I didn't even have to tell the Bride. I have so many stories of how she was a blessing to me and my family. Caring for Sparky, caring for Elizabeth. That is just part of who she was as a person and a Jesus follower. She lived her life loving. Loving you, loving David, Sarah, and Johnny, and serving her family and friends. Praying for you in this season of mourning.

I have no words to express how sad I am for your loss of my friend Debbie. I will miss her big smile, zest for life & her creativity. We had many great talks & great fun enjoying working together as Realtors! I´m still in shock over her passing. Losing John was as devastating as it gets so now she has joined him in the arms of God.
