Deborah "Debbie" Jean Williams
April 16, 1956 – August 11, 2024
Deborah "Debbie" Jean Williams, 68, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed from this world into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 11, 2024. Debbie always said if you say, one in a million, she would be the one. So, in true Debbie fashion she decided a traditional hospital delivery would not be sufficient. Instead, she was born on April 16, 1956, delivered in the back of the family car by her father, Albert Laws, somewhere on the road to the hospital in Buffalo, New York. Her brother Steve loaned a shoelace which was used to tie her umbilical cord. He frequently reminded her of the loan and her failure to make payment.
At 10 years old Debbie moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma when the family had car trouble on their trip from Buffalo, New York to California. One fate filled day, right there in Tulsa, Debbie met Don Williams, the love of her life, while roller skating at the local rink. Their lifelong love story had just begun and on December 25,1973, Don and Debbie were married. In spite of many medical challenges, she enjoyed a fulfilling life as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Also, in following the example of her spiritual mother, Annie Perez, she lived a life of extending God's love to everyone she met. She made everyone feel like family. As a result, she had many spiritual children. It was not unusual to show up for a family celebration to find she and Don had adopted another young lady or young couple into the family.
Debbie loved to spend time crafting, doing word puzzles, and spending time with and cooking for her family. One of her favorite things about family get togethers was playing board games, those who played with her quickly understood she would win and everyone else was simply playing for second place.
Debbie is preceded in death by her mother Mildred Laws, brothers; Stephen Laws, Kevin Souders, Dwayne Palmer, Chester Callen, sister; Beth Souders, and twin grand babies.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years; Donald Williams, father; Albert C. Laws, stepmother; Karlene Laws, daughters; Diana Gay and Donna Castleberry, sisters; Mindy Lectner, and Renee Cloud, brothers; William Souders, A. Charles Laws, Timothy Laws, Jeffery Laws, Richard Laws, grandchildren; Deborah Grace Castleberry, Aaron Castleberry, Caleb Castleberry, Troy Gay, and Brennan Gay, and a many nieces, nephews, spiritual children, and friends that she dearly loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Debbie's favorite children's ministry, The Amani Children's Choir, amanichoir.com
