Debra Ann "Cerreto" Godwin

Debra Ann Cerreto Godwin, age 67 of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Newark, Debra has resided in Sayreville for the past 30 years.

Debbie worked as a paraprofessional for the Sayreville Board of Education and also managed her late husband's trucking company, R. Godwin Flatbed Service in Sayreville.

She loved spending time with her family, friends and neighbors, dedicated her life to her children and was like a second mom to so many. She was selfless, strong and a fighter. She was beautiful inside and out. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her father Nicholas Cerreto, her brother Nicholas Cerreto and her husband Richard Godwin, who passed in 2020. Surviving are her children Alissa Godwin and her husband Andrew Rifkin, Nicholas Godwin and Richard Godwin; her grandson Drew; her mother Girolama Cerreto; and her beloved companion, her dog, Gino.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 11am at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 12pm prayer service. Entombment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield. She loved orange and white roses.
