Debra A. Kosciuszko, 67, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of July 4, 2025 at her residence.
Debbie was born in New Castle on October 17, 1957. Debbie was the daughter of Anthony J. Allegro and Dolores M. Toth Allegro. Her father preceded her in death. Debbie's mom survives in New Castle.
Debbie is survived by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Kosciuszko. The two were married on September 13, 1980.
Debbie had worked for New Castle Orthopedics as a receptionist. She later worked as an Instructional Aide for Laurel Elementary School for seventeen years. Debbie was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church.
"Raised in West Pittsburg, Debbie carried fond memories of "The Burg" and her Burg family. Our Debbie was always meticulously styled and leaves behind a large shoe closet full of shoes, two pairs of leather pants, and hundreds of perfectly coordinated outfits. To all those who knew her, Debbie was a guiding light-quick to offer an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and impeccable advice. Debbie gave of herself in quiet, steadfast ways, even during her own illness. Through grueling rounds of treatment, she continued to visit Haven Convalescent Home every evening to visit her mother and feed her dinner. She also continued to work in the special education classroom where she had spent years pouring her heart into the lives of children. Those students were not just part of her job, they were her joy and her calling. She celebrated their smallest victories like they were her own, and she believed in each one of them. She truly adored her "Laurel family". In previous years, she volunteered at the Youth Development Center, where she helped share the word of God with young people who were often overlooked. Her faith was unwavering-not just something she believed, but something she lived. We will miss her humor, her guidance, her dance moves and her twenty- pound lasagna. Debbie's spirit was impossibly big, so full of grace and compassion that it spills over even now, into the lives of everyone she touched. She faced the end of her life the same way she lived it-with love, gratitude, and an unshakable sense of faith."
In addition to her mother and husband, Debbie is survived by her two children, Amy Marvel (Douglas), and William Kosciuszko and his fiancé, Yessica and her three brothers, John Allegro, Mark Allegro (Judy) and David Allegro (Braunda).
Visitation will be on Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. Family and friends will meet at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. The Very Reverend Father Joseph McCaffrey will officiate.
