Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kyger Funeral Home - Harrisonburg on Nov. 4, 2023.
On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, Debra Floyd Raines, passed away at the age of seventy-one. Debby was born February 7, 1952 and grew up in Rockingham County. She moved to Culpeper VA in 1977 and became a well-loved teachers aide at Farmington Elementary. Her happiest memories are filled with time spent alongside wonderful teachers, staff and children. She loved reading and crafting with children and bringing appreciation for creativity and innovation. Her smile and flair for life were infectious. Upon retirement, Debby returned to the Valley to her hometown, enjoying family.
Debby had a love and appreciation for arts and crafts. In her spare time, Debby became an amature jewelry crafter, commissioning to friends and family; she had dreams of "Debby's Dangling and Darlings,.com". Although she did not fulfill that dream many were blessed with a personal piece from her. Her creativity led to her first early-youth children's book, titled "My Big Day at the Zoo", released recently on Amazon.
Debby is survived by her mother, Martha K. Floyd, her son Jeremiah Raines and daughter Sarah Saluja (husband Raj), grandchildren Dylan and Colin Saluja, her sister Susan Schewchuk (husband Curtis), her brother Steve Floyd (wife Debbie), dog Molly, cat Lilly, among many nieces, nephews and other relatives she truly loved. Debby is preceded in death by her father Dee E. Floyd, her grandmother Clara Bell Templeman, her favorite grandfather Raymond (BoDee) Templeman, and granddaughter Taylor Asha Saluja.
A memorial will be held in the spring to honor Debby. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to your local SPCA.
