Debra A. "Confer" Sama

Debra A. Sama, 72, of Enfield, beloved wife of Richard F. Sama, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on November 26, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Claudette (Bennett) Confer. Debra lived in several places during her childhood while her father served in the military before eventually settling in Enfield. She attended Enfield schools and later raised her own family in the town she proudly called home.

Debra was a familiar and friendly face at the McDonald's on Elm Street in Enfield, where she worked for 30 years. She was known by coworkers and customers alike for her dedication, strong work ethic, and warm presence.

She had a deep love for animals and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially tending to the bird feeders in her yard. Debra enjoyed swimming, trips to the beach, and for the past 12 years she and her husband cherished spending January and February wintering in Bonita Beach, Florida. Above all, Debra loved her family. She especially treasured her grandchildren and enjoyed caring for them when they were young.

In addition to her beloved husband of 55 years, Richard, she leaves two daughters, Susan Nawrocki and her husband Darren, and Terri Hagist and her husband Charles; four grandchildren, Anthony J. Fusco, Arina Hagist, Leland Hagist, and Ella Mosher; her sister, Karen Brueshaber and her husband Rick; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Confer.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
