Darriel Edna Francis Parratt ("Dee")
01/19/1947 – 09/29/2025
Born at St. Mary's General Hospital, Passaic, NJ and residing in West Caldwell, NJ with her parents and siblings, Dee was the youngest of 5 children.
Having moved to Ocean Twp, NJ in 1961 with her parents Angelicha and Edward Sadowski, Dee attended Asbury Park High School and was a member of the Class of 1965 where she met her high school sweetheart David ("Dave") E. Parratt.
Dee enjoyed horseback riding and participating in equestrian shows including English and Western Saddle and ice skating.
When she worked at Frequency Engineering Laboratories, in Farmingdale, NJ Dee built and repaired transistor boards/circuit boards which were the core technology behind the miniaturization of military electronics enabling a new generation of portable and advanced equipment during the Vietnam War.
Later in life she also worked in Loss Prevention for Sears at the Seaview Square location, Ocean Twp, NJ.
Dee married her high school sweetheart Dave in July of 1968. They lived together in Asbury Park then Ocean Twp. In 1989 they moved to Jackson Twp, where they were blessed to be surrounded by neighbors who became much more than neighbors, they were family. It was in their Jackson Twp residence that Dee passed peacefully in the arms of her loving family.
Active with the Ocean Twp Little League as a coach, team mom and event organizer she was an advocate for youth sports and girls and women's athletics.
She was presented with multiple extra step awards for her dedication to chaperoning and coordinating interscholastic events and she was a member of the Spartan Booster Club representing Girls Softball.
Dee always had a full van/car whether going to the ball fields, the beach, the roller rink or school functions and then some.
She was a lover of nature, including horticulture (she had quite a green thumb), wild life, her beloved pets, sunsets and the celestial bodies of the night sky (always updating you on the phases of the moon). She loved the beach and followed weather patterns, ready with a storm update and treasured going to the beach during hurricanes for the wind and the waves! She believed Earth Day is every day and promoted and held close to her heart core values of social justice.
Dee was a fervent fan of the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
She was an artist from her landscaped acre of land to the festive seasonal wreaths and centerpieces she created that adorned her home and holiday table. She was an enthusiastic decorator for the seasons with an artistic eye for esthetics and whimsy.
Dee was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She is a light that will never go out. She would go to the ends of the earth for you and she will live on in the many hearts she touched so deeply throughout her journey. Rest in peace and love Dee.
Darriel was predeceased by her parents Angelicha and Edward Sadowski, her sisters Jaqueline Fraiser and Adrienne Price and her son in law Victor Otterbine DO.
