Deirdre Ann Basel Dee (first name is pronounced DEER-DRA) age 42 passed away in Lakeland, Florida on April 3rd, 2025, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center after a battle with Cancer which she bravely and courageously fought until accepting her position with Jesus.There are three words that sum up her life; Generosity, Thankfulness, and Love.
Dee was born on July 20th, 1982, in Miami, Fl to parents Patricia Riaski Voll, Nenito Joe Vital.
Deirdre was well loved by many lifelong friends. She was an unforgettable person and loved her friends and family dearly. Any friend of Deirdre became a lifelong friend, blessed by her joyful spirit and easygoing personality. Dee lived in Ft. Hood, TX, Winter Haven, FL, Ft. Bragg, NC, before settling Lakeland, FL. Dee married Nick on 11/16/2017, in Lakeland, FL.
Deirdre truly loved spending time with her family. Simple things like going out to eat, taking her Nana to church, catching a movie with her husband, and shopping with her mother and sisters were her favorite things to do. Deirdre loved the holidays because they brought a sense of togetherness and familiarity. Deirdre was a girly girl and loved getting her nails and hair done. She loved being at home with her husband and stepdaughter, whether they were enjoying a meal together or just playing a video game.
Achievements
Deirdres laughter was contagious. She was known for her unforgettable smile that stretched across her face. If she thought something was funny, it would be impossible for her to stop laughing. She was also known to be quite the collector. From owning enough candles to light the world, to storing various nick-nacks and novelties- Deirdre loved her STUFF. She was a natural caretaker and loving wife, sister, aunt, and granddaughter. Her goal was making sure those close to her were cared for, safe, and, loved.
Dee is Survived by her spouse Nicholas Basel, Stepdaughter, Morgan Basel Her parents: Patricia Voll, Joe Vital, and In-Laws: Jacqueline Lyons and John Lyons Grandparents: Brenda Moore, Joe Vital Sr., and Robert Riaski, Siblings Heather Kunze, Chelsie Vital, Joseph Vital, Victoria Voll-Land, and Brian Voll, Nephews and Nieces: Kai Bradley, (pronounced KYE), Lydia Kunze, Jonah Kunze, and Charlotte Land. Brother and Sister-in-Law Richard Basel and Alyssa Lyons Cousins: Seana Geisler, Brenda Degler, Rachel Holley, Robert Riaski, Heath Riaski, Savannah McCullough, Finn McCullough, Sean Paul Bennett, Gracie Riaski Aunts/Uncles: Grainne McCullough, Robert Riaski, Rory Colon, Brenden Riaski, Connie Riaski, Steve McCullough, and Sarah Riaski and her dog Milo.
Dee was Preceded In death by her Grandmother: Gertrude Trudy Gilbert and aunt, Paula Dooner.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday April 11, 2025 from 3-4 PM followed by the funeral Mass at 4 PM. All will take place at Lakeland Funeral Home.
