Rev. Delano McMinn

Anderson – Delano Talmadge McMinn went to his Heavenly Home on March 31, 2024. Born in Toccoa, Georgia July 22, 1933, he was the son of the late Ira and Lessie Thomason McMinn.
Rev. McMinn was a graduate of Furman University and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Berkeley, California. He pastored in California, Georgia, Ohio, and South Carolina bringing his ministry to a fourteen-year service as Director of Missions for the Saluda Baptist Association in Anderson. Following his associational ministry, he served for three years as Associate Pastor of Covenant Baptist Church followed by several years of supply and interim ministry. He served as President of the Ohio Baptist Pastor's Conference, Trustee of Golden Gate Seminary, Trustee of Anderson University, and The Executive Board of the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
He is survived by his wife, Willene Barnett McMinn; two sons, Douglas McMinn (Kim) and Thomas McMinn; daughter-in-law, Phyllis McMinn; seven grandchildren, Mark, Micah, Matthew, Mary Ann, Molly, Brent, and Sam; and five great-grandchildren, Stella, Esther, Max, Judah, and Ada.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Phillip McMinn, daughter-in-law, Stephanie McMinn, two sisters, and a brother.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Covenant Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. A private burial will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International or The Phillip McMinn Scholarship for students of Baptist Pastors going into full time service and attending North Greenville University or Anderson University.
