Delbert Vander Schaaf, 83, of Orange City, Iowa, died Monday, November 4, 2024, at Trillium House in Marquette, Michigan.

 Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 23 at Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg, Iowa with Pastor Mark Schwarz officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.

 Visitation will be Friday, November 22, from 4:00 to 8:00 with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

 Delbert Vander Schaaf was born on a farm near Sioux Center on January 24, 1941, the child of John and Harriet Vander Schaaf. At the age of 4 the family moved to the farm near Middleburg, Iowa where he grew up attending Capel Township School and the Northwestern Academy. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1963 and served as a military policeman in West Germany before his marriage. Delbert was united in marriage to Elda De Kam on July 20, 1967, at Worthington Christian Reformed Church in Worthington, Minnesota. They made their home on the family farm near Middleburg, Iowa. Delbert Vander Schaaf enjoyed farming and traveling. After retiring from farming he drove semi-trucks for Meerdink trucking. He especially enjoyed restoring antique Oliver tractors. He was a lifelong member of Middleburg Free Grace Reformed Church as well as the Sioux Center American Legion and VFW. 

 Delbert Vander Schaaf is survived by his children, Lisa Vander Schaaf, Lyle (Connie) Vander Schaaf, Lana Vander Schaaf, and Lloyd Vander Schaaf, all of Marquette, Michigan, and Lori (Jesse) Frederick of Ames, Iowa; his grandchildren Erin, Colin and Carson Vander Schaaf, Jacob and Clayton Frederick and Nora, Eva and Eloise Vander Schaaf; his brothers: Milton (Joann) Vander Schaaf, Herlon (Joan) Vander Schaaf and Roger (Charolette) Vander Schaaf; and his sisters, June (Harold) Driesen, Helen (Don) Statema and Arlys Zomermand. 

 He was preceded in death by spouse, Elda Vander Schaaf; father, John Vander Schaaf; mother, Harriet Vander Schaaf; his brothers James Vander Schaaf and Wayne Vander Schaaf; his sisters Wilma Schelling, Henrietta Vander Broek, and Audrey Van Grow.
