Delilah J. (Black) Welschmeyer, age 73, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully Monday, September 16, 2024, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born in Fort Benning, GA. on March 18, 1951, a daughter to the late Euby and Effie Julia (Wells) Black Sr. She was united in marriage to Victor James Welschmeyer in Cole County. The two enjoyed life together until his passing on March 21, 2014.
Living in Florida with her family, Delilah attended Chumuckla High School and graduated from Milton High School in 1969. Following graduation, she joined the United States Air Force and proudly served her country. Later in life, she owned and operated her own cleaning business, Dirt Alert One, for 17 years until her retirement.
Free-spirited and always up for an adventure, Delilah enjoyed travelling, gambling with friends and her granddaughter Madison, and simply having a good time everywhere she went. Her adventurous side led her to develop a love for riding wave runners and taking more risks than her son, Paul, could handle. She possessed a creative nature and took pleasure in designing and crafting wreaths for all occasions in her craft room.
Delilah adored being with family and was known for her quick wit, sassy and sarcastic sense of humor, and love of Hawaiian music. She was a non-traditionalist and had a knack for making birthdays extra special with her hand selected birthday songs for family members. Her sassy spirit and fun-loving nature will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son, Paul J. Losi Jr., of Jefferson City; brothers, Euby Black Jr. (Dee), Randy Black, and David Black (Kim); grandchildren, Madison, Kelsey, and Cora Losi; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friend, Mark Wiegand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and loving husband, Victor.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Freeman Mortuary. Delilah's memorial service will follow her visitation 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Trevor Dancer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105.
