DELLA MAE ELMGREN
Della Mae Elmgren, 97, of Bloomington, MN met her Lord and Savior on April 12, 2024 with her daughter at her side. Della was born on August 9, 1926 in Rush City, Minnesota. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher and volunteer.
Della accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age. Throughout her life, she enjoyed Bible studies, church activities, and sharing Jesus with others. During the last few years of her life, she would say "I'm ready whenever Jesus wants to take me".
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, E. Eugene Elmgren, her parents, sister Ione Roe and brother Allan Welshinger.
She is survived by her daughter Lori (Mark) Grimes and granddaughter Lindsay (Devin) Hamlar, two great granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
Della was a graduate of East High School, Superior Wisconsin, Wisconsin State College and Mankato State College. She enjoyed teaching kindergarten in Fort Wayne Ind., Superior Wisc, and 25 years in Bloomington, MN. She was passionate about teaching and dearly loved each of her young students.
After retirement, Della enjoyed spending more time with her granddaughter Lindsay and caring for her aging parents. She volunteered at St Stephen Lutheran Church, Martin Luther Manor Auxiliary, Stonecroft Ministries, and the America Swedish Institute. She was actively involved in the Bloomington Retired Teachers Association, Bloomington Federated Women's Club and Bloomington Christian Women's Club.
Funeral service for Della will be Monday, April 22nd, 2024 11:00 AM @ St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 8400 France Avenue South, Bloomington, MN with visitation starting at 9:30 AM at church. Interment Dawn Valley Memorial Park, Bloomington, MN.
