Della Nemes

Della B. Nemes, 96, of Plainsboro, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at her residence in Plainsboro, where she was born.
Born in Plainsboro, she went to Princeton High School, where she met her future husband of 72 years, Joseph J. Nemes, Jr. Della graduated in 1947, they were married in 1949, and lived together in Princeton. They built a home together in Bridgewater where they had their three children, Jeffry, Pamela and Wenda. Joe and Della later moved to Hillsborough before finally settling in Plainsboro. Della worked as a bookkeeper for the family business of Joseph J. Nemes & Sons Inc.
She was a member of the United Reformed Church of Somerville where she taught Sunday School, served as a Girl Scout troop leader and cookie chairperson. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Plainsboro and upon its closing, became a member of the United Methodist Church of Cranbury. Della was a very involved and active member of her community. She helped to establish the Habitat for Humanity in Somerset. In her free time, Della loved to travel with her husband, spending time in England, Italy, Switzerland, Africa, Peru, Australia, and China.
Predeceased by her parents; her siblings; and her beloved husband, Joseph; Della is survived by her son, Jeffry (Diana) Nemes; her two daughters, Wenda Nemes and Pamela Willett; her grandchildren, Adam Nemes and his wife, Amanda, Zachary Thomas, and Joseph Willett and his wife, Samantha; her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Nemes; and her sister, Janet Dey of Michigan, who is still going strong at 102 years old.
Cremation was private.
A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at A.S. Cole Son & Co. Funeral Home, 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, with a prayer service beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Interment will immediately follow at Westminster Cemetery, Cranbury.
