Mr. Delmar Deneen Reynolds, 83, a resident of Newnan, GA, and formerly of Alton, IL, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 16th, 2023, at Insignia of Newnan - Assisted Living and Memory Care, surrounded by his family.
Born in Harrisburg, IL, on October 1, 1940, to the late Calvin James Reynolds and Virginia Rose Owens Reynolds Battles (Raleigh Battles), Delmar was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol Jean Zerow Reynolds, and his beloved wife, Ann Poe Reynolds. Also preceding him in death were his oldest brother, Frederick Reynolds, and sister-in-law Peggy Reynolds; youngest brother, Bradley Reynolds; a dear sister-in-law, Sis Reynolds; and a brother-in-law, Eddie "Joe" Shelton.
Delmar began his career at Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing in Alton, IL., after working on the farm. He was a gifted Production Engineer with an unstoppable work ethic, traveling across North America and the world, installing new technology and training teams. His contributions included developing numerous production patents that remain in place today. After 38+ years of service, he retired and moved to Senoia, GA, to be close to his grandchildren, whom he and Grandma Carol loved dearly. They were always eager to encourage their grandchildren in their gifts and talents, guiding them towards a life of serving Christ.
Known for his love of people, fast driving, RV travel, big breakfasts, old school country music, and gospel hymns. Delmar and Carol were also avid square dancers with a passion for the outdoors and yard work. Delmar was a dedicated member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, actively participating in the Kitchen Ministry alongside both Carol and Miss Ann.
He is survived by his loving children, Rick Reynolds and wife Kathy of White, GA, and Cynthia Reynolds Boatright and husband Duane of Newnan, GA. His grandchildren include Matthew Boatright and wife Amber of Hopkins, MN; Michael Boatright and wife Karen of Conyers, GA; Adam Reynolds and wife Elaina of Mobile, AL; and Emily Boatright and Belle Boatright of Newnan, GA.
Delmar is also survived by four step-children and their families: Brent Ansley (Mary) of Evans, GA; Steve Ansley (Hope) of Sharpsburg, GA; Lynne Blanton of Carrollton, GA; and Dixie Poe Brooks (Ken) of Bremen, GA. His surviving siblings include brother Rev. Calvin Reynolds and wife Sharon of Clarksville, TN, and sisters Brenda Shelton and Karen Cannon of Alton, IL.
The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, October 21st, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Sharpsburg Baptist Church, 6413 Highway 54, Sharpsburg, GA 30277, with Dr. Wallace McAbee officiating.
